The CORonal mass ejection, solar eNERgetic particle and flare forecaSTing from phOtospheric sigNaturEs (CORNERSTONE) project had its official kick-off on 01/12/2023, with a meeting among all the partners.
The CORNERSTONE project is a MUR funded action, under the PRIN-PNRR 2022 grant.
The objective of the CORNERSTONE project is to exploit magnetograms of the Sun measured by instruments on board space satellites and advanced learning methods to identify the magnetic properties that mostly impact the occurrence of extreme flaring events, Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), and Solar Energetic Particles (SEPs). Solar flares and associated SEPs and CMEs convert free magnetic energy into heat, nonthermal particle acceleration, electromagnetic radiation, plasma waves and bulk flows.
